New workshop up and running

So here’s the main workshop - the nerve centre of Green Man Knives. It’s just fabulous to have everything to hand and be able to get back to doing what I love best - making great tools so my customers can express their creativity.

Of course it’ll be an ongoing process, to make sure there is a place for everything. Drawers and cupboards to finish, finish lining the roof. But these last little jobs are best done whilst actually using the workshop for its intended purpose.

Recently we turned our attention to the smaller workshop, built especially for cleaner jobs like leatherwork and product photography. Now called the Map and Chart Room.

An extra work bench/desk space will be built, but leatherworking is already underway.

So yes, Green Man Knives is very much up and running and ready to take your commissions!

What a difference a year makes! This time last year, the sad old workshop was being emptied and Green Man Knives was about to go into limbo, awaiting landscaping. Six months ago, the new buildings were installed, but of course there was a lot more to do before knives could be made. Gutters, insulation, wiring, painting external woodwork, building a workbench, installing a sink… and then moving all the old machinery (and quite a bit of extra kit) into its new home.

This is the sixth workshop I have built in my life; three when I was silversmithing and three since I started knife making. Being 60 years old now this will be the final one. They’ll take me out of this one in a wooden box.
