Here I present my hunting knife which has been developed through consultation with deer management experts here in England and Scotland. It is designed to cope with the initial gralloch as well as more thorough game processing once the quarry has been recovered.

The ‘Jäger’ has a full tang and is made from 4mm-thick steel with a distal taper to both blade and handle. The handle has a heavy-walled tube for you to add your own lanyard if you wish.

There are two steel options:

• stainless steel (RWL34™ - a non-patterned steel)

• Damascus steel (DS93X™, the pattern-welded variant formerly known as Damasteel).

A traditionally handcrafted leather sheath is included in the price. This can be made with either a simple belt loop sewn directly to the sheath, or a Scandi/dangler loop (with metal D-ring).

Then choose the wood for the handle, and the colour of the liners, mosaic pins, leather dye and stitching.
